Hero Comic

Kirby Congdon*

I am the hero,
death's antagonist.
My strength indestructible,
my body can not be broken.
My bones are iron.
All wounds are flesh
while my body's pornography
survives the current body's death.
I will not age or falter.
Adversity identifies my event.
I, hero, exist
in the art of my own myth,
in film, printed page, or comic strip
and, in miniature, in men,
when I bring them back
to their true lives again.
