IRIS

The daughter of Thaumas and Electra, and sister of the Harpies, she’s known as goddess of the rainbow, the messenger of heaven. Depicted as either personification of the rainbow or as a maiden with wings, traveling the rainbow road with staff and pitcher for collecting water at the River Styx, she appears in Greek texts, Renaissance art and present day fables and games. Her tasks concern peace-keeping and appreciation of nature.
